Gardening Proverbs
So much history surrounds
gardening, you will have heard your
grandparents say the strangest things like,
"Never Cast A Cloud Until May is Out" or "The
Grass is Always Greener on The Other Side" or
maybe you are more familiar with "Don't Make A
Mountain Out Of A Molehill!"
These gardening proverbs
have always made me smile and increase my
affection and interest of gardening from a
very early age.
Some of the more well known
gardening proverbs are listed below:
Gardening Proverbs
#1 : Don't Make A Mountain Out of A
Molehill!
Look at this as an
opportunity rather than a problem, whilst
molehills can be unsightly, the soil that the
mole digs up is fantastic for sowing your
garden seeds in because it is so finely worked
- no more need to sieve your soil!!
Gardening Proverbs
#2 The Grass is Always Greener on the Other
Side.
Things always appear that way, we tend to
focus very much on what other people have and
see things through, wait for it, another
proverb, "Rose Coloured Glasses!" Take a
closer look at what you have and focus on the
good things!
Gardening Proverbs #3 Reap what you sow
Put in
the hard work in your garden, or even your
every day life and the effort that you put in
shows.
Gardening Proverbs #4 Never Cast a Cloud
Until May Is Out
This
very well known gardening proverb means it is
better to wait until May has been and gone
before planting less hardy plants which have a
tendancy not to tolerate cold spring nights.
Be on the safe side and plant these in June.
Gardening Proverbs # 5
April Showers bring
May Flowers
Gardening Proverbs
#6
Gardens, like money in the bank, accumulate
interest as they grow
Gardening Proverbs
# 7
The early bird catches the worm.
Be proactive in life not reactive, if you
plan, take steps to reach your goals in life
then you are more likely to get what you
want.
Gardening Proverbs
#8
Can't see the forest for the trees.
Sometimes life just seems to be a
complicated array of problems, take time
out, relax and then re-examine the
situation, it is surprising how the problem
may not seem quite so foggy.
Gardening Proverbs
# 9
He that plants a tree plants for posterity.
Gardening Proverbs
#10
The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
Take a look closer to home rather than
looking elsewhere for the answer!
